Description
These Cheesy Leek Balls are crispy on the outside, soft and cheesy on the inside, making them a delicious appetizer, snack, or vegetarian main dish. Made with fresh leeks, shredded cheese, cream cheese, and breadcrumbs, they’re easy to prepare and perfect for dipping.
Ingredients
- 2 leeks, thoroughly washed and thinly sliced
- 200 g shredded cheese (Gouda, Cheddar, Emmental, or your favorite)
- 150 g cream cheese (or quark or vegan spread)
- 2 large eggs
- 100 g breadcrumbs
- 1 garlic clove, finely minced
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
- Wash the leeks thoroughly and slice them into thin rings.
- In a large bowl, combine the leeks, shredded cheese, cream cheese, eggs, breadcrumbs, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated. If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more breadcrumbs.
- Shape the mixture into golf ball-sized balls and place them on the prepared baking tray.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and crispy on the outside.
- Serve warm with garlic yogurt dip, sour cream, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, lightly spray the balls with olive oil before baking.
- These can also be cooked in an air fryer at 190°C (375°F) for 12–15 minutes.
- Add chopped herbs like parsley or chives for extra flavor.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat before serving.
